by Tips to Organize Life

It's time to start getting organized to head back to school. Follow these tips to get yourself, your kids and your home ready for a new school year.

The first thing you will want to do is start a shopping list for each child. Then, take a look at your calendar to determine when you can shop and schedule accordingly. Here are the things you will want to consider when making your shopping lists:

Take inventory of your child's closet.
Donate anything that no longer fits and make a list of the clothing items needed to start off the school year.

Make a list of the shoes your child will require. Get your child's foot properly measured for new shoes. It is very important for injury prevention to have properly-fitting shoes.

Get a hanging caddy with a cubby for each day of the week to put in your child's closet. Every Sunday, allow your child to choose the five outfits they will wear to school that week. Every morning when they wake up, they will know exactly what they are wearing and will be able to get dressed in a snap.

Get a copy of your school's required school supply list. Check to see what you already have and what you need to purchase. Make a list of items you need and then shop around for sales.

Make sure your child has a sturdy backpack that fits properly and is just the right size for the amount of materials they will have to carry to and from school.

If your child will bring lunch to school, be sure he has a sturdy lunch box. You may also want to be sure you have a thermos, water bottle, sandwich keeper and plenty of food storage bags. Also, start stocking up on your child's favorite lunch and snack items.
Here are some other things you can do around your home to get ready for back to school:

Create a stash of small bills and coins to use for lunch money and field trips. Keep your stash tucked away, not to be used for any other purpose, so you will always be prepared when those notes come home indicating that money is due.

Begin getting back into a bedtime routine that is more appropriate for school days. Introduce and alarm clock which will teach your children to be responsible for getting themselves up on time.

Create a launch zone where your child can store anything they need to bring to school. Stocking the launch zone the night before will eliminate last minute searches in the morning and will also help to teach your children the ability to plan ahead.

Create a homework box containing supplies your children might need to complete their homework assignments. A shoe box is perfect for this. The homework box is a great way to eliminate procrastination. No more searching all over the house for an eraser. When it comes time for homework, you children can sit down with the box and you will know that they have everything they need.
Put these tips into practice in your home and enjoy an organized school year.
