There are so many things so see and do at Disney!
Do you have any tips to help other families traveling to Disney?
Orlanda Florida/Disney ideas: Universal Studios & Universal Islands of Adventure have incredible rides and a lot more fun than Magic Kingdom. I bought my tickets online ($88 for 5 unlimited days per adult) and I stayed at a Universal property which gave fast passes for EVERY ride. The family never had to wait in line for a ride. It has a toon island; which has all water rides, so you could stay and play there all day wet! My son was 5 and could ride all but 2 or 3 of the big rollercoasters. KF
I would love share some information about your currently topic in Mom's talk - Disney. I used to be a travel agent and have been to Disneyworld 7 times in 5 years. The best time of year to travel is in January, February, October, and the first two weeks of December. The weather is great and the lines are very short; you rarely wait in line.
For lodging, I always suggest you stay at an on-site property. Your transportation to/from the airport is included.
Your transportation to/from all the parks is included. Also, they have special "Magic Hours" which is extended parks hours only available to guests staying on property. Go online to www.disneyworld.com to see the hours for each park.
To save some money on food, I would suggest Ft. Wilderness Cabins in a one bedroom cabin, which sleeps up to 6. It has a full kitchen and two grocery stores on-site. You can make cereal for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch at the park. It saves a lot of money! There are several other suite-type properties, but they are a little more expsenive.
For those of you with special needs children, Disney is VERY accommodating. You can go to Guest Services and get a Guest Assistance pass. This allows you to get first in line for any ride.
For park tickets, I would get them online at Disneyworld.com as well. Many times you can get a package that includes hotel and park tickets. If you EVER plan to go to Disney more than once in your life, I would suggest a park-hopper pass with the no expiration option and buy the maximum number of days you can (I think 10 days is the maximum). The park tickets will never expire. And from past experience, the ticket prices go up every year. If you stay on property I would not suggest renting a car. All of your transportation is included.
The Magic Express to/from the airport is great. They pick up your bags from baggage claim and take them to your room. You never touch bags from when you arrive at the airport until you're in your hotel room.
Outside the park there lots of other activities - golfing, Downtown Disney, miniature golf and so much more. One of my favorite sites to visit is www.allearsnet.com. They have so much information on Disney and people post pictures to hotels, parks, etc. Disney is great for any age - from 1 to 100. I have taken my children as young as 6 months old and we still had a great time! Have fun! RB
