We provide a hands-on learning environment and robot hobby kits for children interested in both Robots and Computers.

In our workshops we explore the different aspects of Robotics including the use of robots, their key components, how they sense their environment, how they are programmed, how they are controlled, how they are designed and how they move. Computers and keyboarding are also used, including the programming of their own robotic designs with a visual easy to use programming language.

As junior curators, campers will work behind-the-scenes to learn how to preserve and protect the museum’s collection. Campers will explore the 125 year history of the Plano Fire Department and participate in hands-on demonstrations which includes bucket brigades, fire safety and even meeting “Sparky the Fire Dog.” Campers will work in teams to create and design the unique exhibit,  Fire Boys: The Legacy of the Plano Fire Department.

Pioneer Camp at the Heritage Farmstead Museum encourages campers to put away the gadgets of today and experience farm life in the middle of downtown Plano. It is 4 hours of good old fashioned fun with a smattering of chores which include caring for our sheep, chickens, guineas, turkeys, goats and mules.  Campers will receive hands-on outdoor cooking lessons and there will be time to cool off with a walk in the creek and water games which include the bucket brigade and water relays.
